Childhood dreams and experiences are expression of deep patterns that we explore, play with and manifest through our lives. They are a source of inspiration and beacons we can use to deepen and widen our leadership and impact in the world. In this weekend, you will have a chance to explore your own lifemyth and connect it practically to your work in world, and your team and organization.

What is “Lifemyth”?

The concept of “lifemyth” refers to the deep, individual pattern that underlies our unique talents and powers, and creates the style with which we bring them into the world. It is like a potential that emerges over the course of your lifetime; always new, always surprising, yet based on your deepest unchanging nature—the lifemyth inspires life's unfolding as the tune inspires the dancer.

Why “Childhood Dreams”?

Carl Gustav Jung, the Swiss psychologist who developed depth psychology, researched the connection between childhood dreams (or core childhood experiences) and lifemyths. However, not everyone remembers their childhood dreams or early memories. Arnold Mindell, the American physicist and psychologist who founded Process Work and Deep Democracy, showed how these patterns can be discovered in other areas of our lives, such as in our body experiences and in our recurring relationship and team issues.

Why Use this Approach Also for Teams and Organizations?

Initial potentials and deeper patterns—“childhood dreams”—are also innate in teams, projects, and entire organizations, and emerge over time. If we are able to connect with them, we can understand the deeper powers of the collective, and can cocreate with them.

For both individuals and organizations, the process of discovery focuses on experiencing the depth and strength of the current, not merely describing the shapes of the surface waves and foam crowns.

Daily Plan and Format

We invite you to join us for our 3-day seminar on Depth Leadership. You will learn to discover the process, power, and beauty in your lifelong pattern, your “calling” or lifemyth, and how to apply this knowledge and approach in your team, your projects, and your organization. We alternate between mini-lectures, dyad work (to experiment and discover your personal lifemyth), and project based small group work in which you can find the deeper patterns of your team, organization, or project, and then develop a depth leadership strategy. In addition, we will facilitate our own group of participants as an ad hoc organization.

Day 1: Your Lifemyth: Discovering your individual lifemyth, the timeless pattern behind all of your experiences, expressing it, and bringing it into the here and now.

Day 2:
Childhood Dreams of Organizations and Movements: Finding the inherent, naturally emerging pattern in your team and organization, and how to use its multileveled and multifaceted magic to blossom.

Day 3: Childhood Dreams of Teams and Relationships: How to facilitate the aspect of the relationship and team that is bigger than the sum of its parts.

Who is This Meant For?

This seminar is meant for anyone who is interested in bringing together the worlds of self-discovery and personal growth, deeper holistic connections (spirituality), and everyday action and results. Backgrounds of participants are often highly diverse, and include: social activism, corporate business, art, spirituality, coaching and facilitation, healthcare, politics, and transitional phases. In our seminars, commonly young artists work together with seasoned CEOs, social activists connect with politicians, and sustainable farmers interact with software developers, in the spirit of one of our taglines: Deep Democracy—we make unlikely connections inevitable.
